I am excited to welcome your student to Hartland High School and Spanish IV Honors! During the course of the year, we will be exploring the Spanish language at a more advance level. In Spanish IV Honors, the student will increase oral and written fluency in the target language through a more intense study of grammar, literature, culture, and history. The class will be conducted in Spanish. Students will participate in frequent conversation groups, write compositions, read literary works, and be able to discuss and/ or summarize in the language. Students will develop cultural awareness of different regions of the Hispanic world. Students will be exposed to Hispanic video clips and authentic audio clips to develop listening skills.
The honors level student is expected to have excellent study and communication skills and be able to independently complete their assignments. Communication among students is an integral part of each lesson. Material is presented in a cultural context, enabling the student to understand differences and similarities among societies. Material will be presented at a faster pace, and higher level thinking skills will be expected. More complex ideas and topics will be explored.
Students who successfully complete Spanish IV Honors will be prepared to enroll in A.P. Spanish.

Remember subjunctive vs. indicative QUIZ tomorrow! Both PRESENT and IMPERFECT subjunctive will be on there. Check out the two examples below:
Es posible que yo ___________________(tener) clases mañana.- This is the PRESENT in the MAIN CLAUSE therefore it is PRESENT in the subordinate (second) clause.
a.k.a. Es posible que yo tenga clases mañana. "It is possible that I may have classes tomorrow."
Dudábamos que la prueba _________________(ser) tan difícil. This is the PAST in the MAIN CLAUSE therefore it is PAST (IMPERFECT SUBJUNCTIVE) in the subordinate (second) clause.
a.k.a. Dudábamos que la prueba fuera tan difícil. "We doubted that the quiz would be that difficult."
AGAIN, I would review your red sheet with phrases, I would know the acronym WEIRDO like the back of your hand, and use conjuguemos or packet 1 to review. Actually write out and do sentences!
